Choosing what suits you

Start with your garden, not a pool catalogue.

You do not need a finished specification. A few clear priorities are enough to help us find the right direction together.

How you will enjoy it

Think about everyday swimming, quiet time by the water or a garden that puts wildlife first.

The feel of the garden

Soft planted edges or a more architectural outline, with materials that belong beside your home.

The complete footprint

Allow for swimming space, planting or filtration, access and somewhere to sit, alongside your budget.

What is the difference between a swimming pond, a natural pool and a living pool?

A swimming pond puts the swimming area within a more naturalistic, planted setting. A natural pool combines a defined swimming space with a separate planted zone. A living pool has the appearance of a conventional pool, with biological filtration kept out of the swimming area. The right choice depends on the look you prefer and the space available.

How much garden space do I need?

The swimming area is only part of the footprint. We also need to consider planting or filtration, equipment access and the space around the water. Rather than applying one minimum size to every garden, we discuss the complete layout and the way you want to use it before recommending a pool type.

Can I have a natural swimming pool without a planted swimming area?

Yes. A living pool is the starting point for a more conventional pool appearance, with biological filtration separate from the swimming area. Planting can still be part of the surrounding garden without forming the edge of the swimming space.

Is a wildlife pond designed for swimming?

No. Our wildlife ponds are designed around habitat, planting and enjoying the water from the garden rather than bathing. When swimming is part of your plans, start with a swimming pond, natural pool or living pool so the design is built around that use from the outset.

How much should I allow for a new pool?

Our guide starting prices are £45,000 for swimming ponds, £80,000 for natural pools and living pools, and £12,000 for wildlife ponds, all excluding VAT. These are starting points rather than fixed quotations. The size, ground conditions, access and finishes affect the price for your garden.

What maintenance should I expect?

A natural pool still needs regular care. The routine depends on the design and can include removing debris, looking after planted areas and maintaining the filtration and circulation equipment. We explain the care involved and offer maintenance, aftercare and seasonal servicing support.

Can you convert an existing chlorine pool?

It may be possible, but the existing pool and its filtration need to be assessed before the right approach can be confirmed. Tell us about the pool, its current equipment and what you would like to change, and we can discuss the practical next step.

Do I need to choose a pool type before getting in touch?

Not at all. A few photographs, your location and an idea of how you would like to enjoy the water are enough to begin. We help you compare the options against your garden and budget. Your first design consultation is free and there is no obligation to proceed.
