Our wildlife ponds put habitat at the centre of the design. Water, planted shelves, gentle margins and the surrounding garden are considered together, with space for a more natural character to develop.
The pond can be a quiet feature near the terrace or part of a wider meadow and garden landscape. We design the setting as carefully as the water, so it feels connected to your home without losing its purpose.

A wildlife pond should be allowed to develop its own character. We do not promise a sterile appearance, identical water clarity every day or a guaranteed list of visiting species.
The right location
We assess the space, light, ground levels, nearby planting and water source, alongside how the pond would connect to the wider garden.
The right access
Open water needs careful thought in a family garden. Paths, viewing areas and appropriate protection are discussed from the start; planted edges are not safety barriers.
A pond that develops over time
Care for the habitat, not just the view.
A natural appearance is not the same as neglect. We explain the light, considered routine that suits the pond and its surroundings.
Give planting time
The garden will not look the same in its first weeks as it will once established. We explain expected growth and how to manage it without repeatedly redesigning the margins.
Plan seasonal attention
Vegetation management, accumulated leaves and water levels need occasional attention. The handover covers what to observe and when to ask for advice.
Keep the brief in mind
A habitat pond is not maintained to swimming pool standards. We agree the appropriate approach to the water and equipment, without treating clear appearance as proof that it is suitable for a dip.

Our wildlife ponds are not designed or commissioned for swimming. A clear surface does not establish that the water, depths or entry are suitable. When swimming is part of the brief, we recommend exploring a swimming pond or natural pool from the outset.

The right size depends on the setting and what you want to achieve. We consider the whole pond, including its margins and surrounding planting, rather than starting with a single minimum measurement. A smaller, well considered feature may suit a garden better than using all the available space.
Will you choose the pond plants?
Planting is part of the design. We select native aquatic and marginal plants around the light, depths and intended character, allowing for their growth over time. The proposed palette and extent of planting are confirmed as part of your project.
Can you guarantee which wildlife will arrive?
No. The pond can be designed with habitat in mind, but its visitors depend on the location, surrounding landscape and how the pond establishes. We focus on a suitable design and realistic expectations rather than promise particular species or numbers.
Does a wildlife pond need swimming pool filtration?
Not as a default. A wildlife pond has a different purpose from a swimming pool, so its construction, water management and any equipment are specified around the habitat brief. We discuss what is appropriate rather than automatically adding a swimming filtration system.
Can the pond be part of a formal garden?
Yes. The wider garden can remain orderly, with paths, clipped planting or a defined viewing area around a softer pond landscape. We look for a balance that suits the home while still giving the margins and planted areas the space the design needs.
How much maintenance should I expect?
The routine depends on the planting, nearby trees and the pond itself. Expect some seasonal vegetation management, observation of water levels and attention to accumulated material. We explain the appropriate routine at handover rather than describe the pond as completely maintenance free.
Can you improve an existing wildlife pond?
We can discuss an existing pond and assess what you would like to change. Its condition, established habitat, access and any constraints should be understood before recommending works. Sometimes a careful adjustment is more appropriate than starting again.
